“You Make Me Feel Alive In Spite Of Rising Water.”
Confidence can be a killer. Sometimes there is nothing worse than the idea of exposing our naked souls to the world. Something James Vincent McMorrow has certainly struggled with in the past (as detailed on his facebook page). Now, as we peer through a mirror into a much more colourfully coherent world than the blurred wintry shades of his 2014 album ‘Post Tropical’, JVM’s upcoming third album ‘We Move’ looks set to embrace the vulnerabilities that once kept him standing still.
Rising Water acts as his first step forward. The Nineteen85-produced track is a propulsive jam that ebbs and flows through pulsing synths, electronic beats and refreshingly buoyant R&B textures, yet still maintains JVM’s signature folk tones; and of course that beautifully distinct vocal. By collaborating with the outside voices of “85, Two Inch Punch and Frank Dukes, it would appear that the Irish singer has now comfortably taken command of his own. Move with the ‘tide’ by diving into JVM’s new sound below.
The new album ‘We Move’ will be out September 2nd via Believe/Caroline. Check below for upcoming live shows.
