The flames at the beginning of a relationship are often so hot that it’s a wonder couples don’t catch third degree burns. Yet, more often than not, over time, they lose that loved up ‘spark’ and the once brightly burning desire to stay in eachother’s hearts… and underdrawers, eventually fade into nothing more than lukewarm memories.
In new track, Young Blood, Ellen Murphy aka Only Girl knows a thing or two about a waning love. Combining a brooding mixture of celestial harmonies, sweeping synths and heartbeat-like production, the South-East Londoner delivers an empowering R&B infused modern ballad which, although draped in nostalgic melancholy, acquires a fervent desire to let go and try something new. Oozing with passion and that gorgeously soaring vocal, this talented songstress looks set to align herself with the likes of Jessie Ware and Shura.
Young Blood serves as the title track for her 4-track EP due for release on March 11th Via Akira Records and supported by PRS Music Foundation.
