Brandyn Burnette first tantalized my musical tastebuds back in November with his playful and seductive single ‘Nothing At All’, a song about being overcome by desire and the thrills that entice you to engage in an addictive relationship. The dynamic progressive soul vocals of this St. Louis native instantly had me hooked and ironically craving more of his eargasmic fusion of smooth rhythms and futuristic beats. Today, he released an acoustic version of another single off his ‘Made of Dreams’ EP, ‘Down’, which strips away the sonic grooves of the original and focuses entirely on his beautifully powerful vocal.
A quick internet search had me surprised to discover that Brandyn had recently auditioned for this years American Idol but had decided to voluntarily bow out on Friday, in an effort to progress at his own pace. Although more ears and hearts may have been gripped by this man’s raw and emotionally electric music through the realms of television, I believe that this young musician had enough talent to make it off his own steam, rather than falling to the money-grabbing hands of Simon Cowell and companions. But as always, the music shall speak for itself.
