Watching Lewis Capaldi play his first London headline show at The Waiting Room back in October 2017, it was clear I had stumbled across someone very special. Filled to the brim with fans who were singing along to songs that had only been out for a few months, was a clear indication of where he was heading. Fast forward a year and a half and the Scottish singer-songwriter was nominated for the Brits Critics Choice Award, achieved a huge number one single, sold out an arena tour within minutes and bagged a ton of online followers through his hilarious Instagram rants. It is clear that Lewis Capaldi has become an unfiltered phenomenon.
Following the mammoth success of Someone You Loved, which held the UK number one for seven weeks, Lewis has provided yet another heart-pummelling ballad with Hold Me While You Wait. Speaking of the track, Lewis said: “’Hold Me While You Wait’ is a song I wrote about the uncertainty of being in a relationship when your partner isn’t sure what they want. There’s an impending hopelessness to the whole thing, on both sides, when they’re not sure whether they want to be in that relationship or not. For me it’s one of the most desperate places you can find yourself in.”
Hold Me While You Wait is taken from his forthcoming debut album ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’, out May 17th. Preorder it here.
