Wildes - Bare

I knew as soon as I pressed play that I would like ‘Bare’, the beautifully haunting debut by London newcomer Ella Walker aka Wildes. Her sound is by no means new; the delicately reverberating guitars, swirling atmospheric percussion and gorgeously restrained vocal paint a similarly gloomy folk-tinged sound as that of Daughter, London Grammar and Laura Marling. Yet, her immaculate delivery and songwriting skills show a maturity well beyond her nineteen years. Pulling tentatively at our heartstrings in a ghostly but uplifting manner, we would be forgiven for believing this was more than just a debut. So if you are happy to lose yourself in something raw, sad and dreamily melancholic, no matter what little distinction, then go ahead and listen to this stunning track below.

‘Bare’ is out now via Hometown Records
